Women’s Soccer Closes Out Regular Season With Win


BOSTON, Mass. – Four different players scored goals and senior goalkeepers Nicole Leahey (Warwick, R.I.) and Beverly Farris (Palmer, Mass.) combined for the shutout, as the Wentworth Institute of Technology women’s soccer team used three second half goals to break open a 1-0 game in a 4-0 win over Nichols in Commonwealth Coast Conference action.

The Leopards, who will be seeded seventh in the upcoming CCC Tournament, improve to 8-8-2 overall (3-5-1 CCC) while the Bison await their playoff fate, sitting at 7-11-0 (2-7-0). Continue reading

Women’s Soccer Shuts Out Framingham State


BOSTON, Mass. – Senior Tori Armishaw (Scarborough, Maine) and sophomore Amanda Weinberger (Colchester, Conn.) each had a goal and an assist, while senior keeper Nicole Leahey (Warwick, R.I.) made three saves as the Wentworth Institute of Technology women’s soccer team defeated Framingham State 4-0 in non-conference action on Sweeney Field Thursday night.

The Leopards snap a six-game (0-4-2) winless streak, with their first win since September 20 and improves to 6-6-2 overall. The Rams see their three-game wins streak come to an end, falling to 8-5-0. Continue reading

First Half Goal Lifts Eastern Nazarene Past Women’s Soccer


BOSTON, Mass. – Senior Jules Peno (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) registered the lone goal in the match as the Eastern Nazarene College women’s soccer team defeated Wentworth Institute of Technology, 1-0, in Commonwealth Coast Conference action on Sweeney Field.

With the win the Lions improve to 5-7-0 overall and even their CCC record at 2-2. The Leopards slip to 5-5-1 overall and 1-3 in league play. Continue reading

Late Goal Helps Women’s Soccer Salvage Tie


BOSTON, Mass. – Junior Valeria Zapata’s (Pawtucket, R.I.) goal with 12:44 remaining in regulation evened the score at 2-all as the Wentworth Institute of Technology women’s soccer team tied WPI in non-conference action on Sweeney Field.

Unbeaten in their last three (2-0-1), the Leopards stand at 5-2-1 while the Engineers extend their unbeaten streak to four (2-0-2) and is 3-4-2. Continue reading

Zapata’s Hat Trick Paces Women’s Soccer Past Maine-Farmington


BOSTON, Mass. – Junior Valeria Zapata (Pawtucket, R.I.) recorded a hat trick as the Wentworth Institute of Technology women’s soccer team erupted for five second-half goals, defeating the University of Maine-Farmington, 6-0, in non-conference action at Sweeney Field.

With the win the Leopards improve to 4-2 on the season while the Beavers slip to 1-3.

In addition to Zapata’s three goals, senior Tori Armishaw (Scarborough, Maine) scored a goal and tallied an assist, while sophomore Michelle Murphy (West Islip, N.Y.) and junior Taylor Van Zile (Pine Beach, N.J.) each scored a goal. Continue reading
