Yesterday was a big day for people who obsess over baseball jerseys. MLB announced August 25-27 would be Players Weekend, where each team will wear funky colored jerseys with custom names on the back. The whole thing is a collaboration with the MLB Player Association to pay homage to youth baseball and where the players came from . . . something like that. Players can also wear custom cleats, crazy colors, and wear gear that supports a cause/charity. Darren Rovell has a complete write-up on this.
I personally like this. Baseball has long been associated with old people and boredom, and anything as small as this to help put a little more youth into the game is a plus.
